Del-York Creative Academy (DCA), the capacity-building arm of Del-York Group for the Creative Economy, held a graduation showcase ceremony on May 5th, 2024, to celebrate its graduating class of March/April 2024.

This prestigious ceremony marked the culmination of a transformative journey for aspiring filmmakers, cinematographers, and other creatives who honed their craft under the guidance of renowned instructors from the Nigerian film industry.

DCA, a subsidiary of Del-York International, has established itself as a premier creative institution in Lagos, Nigeria. The Academy provides a launchpad for raw talent, transforming them into skilled innovators ready to shape Africa’s burgeoning creative landscape.

Transformative Education for Filmmakers

The graduating cohort embarked on a six-week intensive program, embracing storytelling as the cornerstone of their careers. Internationally acclaimed instructors equipped them with a comprehensive understanding of the creative process and the filmmaking business through a unique blend of theory and practical experience.

The graduation ceremony, held at the DCA campus, was a vibrant celebration of the students’ unleashed creativity. Diverse student-written screenplays like “Mira” and “The Executioner” captivated the audience. Presentations across various departments – Acting, Cinematography, Screenwriting, Producing, Editing, and Graphic Design – showcased collaborative live-action scenes.

Mr. Chinedu Omorie, the esteemed lead instructor at DCA, acknowledged the academy’s unwavering commitment to student development, describing DCA as a “well of gems.” He encouraged the graduates to venture out and “do exploits” in the industry.
