In a landmark week for Nigerian development, the Del-York Group, a leading conglomerate renowned for its diverse business portfolio and commitment to excellence, had insightful week-long activities.

The week was enriched by the presence of National Football League (NFL) stars Odafe Jayson Oweh (Baltimore Ravens) and Jesse Luketa (Arizona Cardinals).  Oweh, a Nigerian-American player, embraced the opportunity to celebrate his homecoming and serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes in Lagos.

Del-York Group, at the forefront of fostering strategic partnerships, NFL star’s itinerary included a courtesy visit to His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State. In the recent discussions, these prominent athletes, Odafe Jayson Oweh and Jesse Luketa, explored the growing potential of sports as a driving force for youth development, community empowerment, and fostering international relations in Lagos and across Nigeria. 

With a keen understanding of sports’ pivotal role in Nigeria, Del-York Group facilitated a visit to Wills Steven, the US Consulate General in Lagos. This exciting initiative explored the vision of leveraging sports, specifically American football, as a driving force for youth and local talent development, building and fostering international relations between the US and Nigeria. Also, offering a platform to nurture and develop a love for athletic pursuits, promote a culture of dedication and perseverance, and unleash raw talent with the untapped athletic potential to identify and cultivate this talent for future success.

Oweh and Luketa, not neglecting the children who look up to them and in hopes of fostering a love for sports amongst these young stars, organized a charity outreach program in Ajegunle, Lagos, through their foundations, the Dofa Oweh Family Fund for Africa (DOFFA), and 40 Reasons Foundation. The day was packed with activities to delight the children from games, training with the star, gifts including football merchandise, and speeches that brought sports thrills to the faces of the children.

The NFL stars were also exhilarated to visit sports complexes Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, and The Lagos National Stadium, Surulere, where they engaged with prominent government officials in the sports ecosystem, including the Director-General, Lagos State Sports  Commission (LSSC), Olalekan Fatodu.
